Some movies awaiting in 2020

While the movie lineup for 2020 doesn’t look as *stacked* as it was in 2019 – here are 9 films that I have high hopes for.

  • TENET (July 17, 2020)

Director: Christopher Nolan

As soon as they announced that there was a new Nolan movie arriving in July 2020 – I was there. The first trailer sealed the deal.

Plot: Not a lot is known about the $225 million USD budgeted film – but the project is described as an action epic revolving around international espionage, time travel, and evolution.

2. NO TIME TO DIE (April 10, 2020)

Director: Cary Joji Fukunaga

You know what they say – every second James Bond movie is good…

Plot: Recruited to rescue a kidnapped scientist, globe-trotting spy James Bond finds himself hot on the trail of a mysterious villain, who’s armed with a dangerous new technology.

3. WONDER WOMAN 1984 (June 5, 2020)

Director: Patty Jenkins

Hot damn this one looks like fun!

Plot: Wonder Woman squares off against the Cheetah, a villainess who possesses superhuman strength and agility.

4. A QUIET PLACE: PART II (March 20, 2020)

Director: John Krasinski

John K returns to direct the second one – will lightning strike twice?

Plot: Members of the Abbott family and a mysterious stranger fight for survival against otherworldly creatures that hunt by sound.

5. DUNE (December 18, 2020)

Director: Denis Villeneuve

That cast is stacked! A new Denis Villeneuve film starring Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Jason Momoa, Oscar Isaac, Josh Brolin, Dave Bautista, Stellan Skarsgård, Javier Bardem, & Charlotte Rampling.

A feature adaptation of Frank Herbert’s science fiction novel, about the son of a noble family entrusted with the protection of the most valuable asset and most vital element in the galaxy.

6. THE INVISIBLE MAN (February 28, 2020)

Director: Leigh Whannell

Whannell’s UPGRADE was one of the highlights of 2018. This looks good!

Plot: When Cecilia’s abusive ex takes his own life and leaves her a fortune, she suspects his death was a hoax. As a series of coincidences turn lethal, Cecilia works to prove that she is being hunted by someone nobody can see.

7. COLOR OUT OF SPACE (January 24, 2020)

Director: Richard Stanley

Just that poster is bananas! Hopefully, this movie has some of the same lunatic energy that MANDY had. It’s been too long since we’ve had a proper Richard Stanley (Hardware) film. Add in Nic Cage and ramp up the insanity!

Plot: After a meteorite lands in the front yard of their farm, Nathan Gardner and his family find themselves battling a mutant extraterrestrial organism that infects their minds and bodies, transforming their quiet rural life into a technicolor nightmare.

8. SAINT MAUD (March 27, 2020)

Director: Rose Glass

Let’s see if A24 keeps up their exemplary (The Witch, Hereditary) horror run in 2020.

Plot: Follows a pious nurse who becomes dangerously obsessed with saving the soul of her dying patient.

9. ETERNALS (November 6, 2020)

Director: Chloé Zhao

Marvel gets truly cosmic in November 2020.

In a story spanning over 7000 years, the Eternals, an immortal alien race created by the Celestials, protect humanity from their evil counterparts the Deviants.
